High-mast lighting is a lanky pole with alight that isconnected to its top. It is pointing in the direction of the ground and ismostlynever used tolight a highway or recreational field. The high mast LED isused at sites that require lighting over a big space area. The pole that has the lighting mounted on it is generally at least 30 meters (98 ft.) tall (under this height it is referred to as conventional lighting system), while the lighting consists of a luminaire ring that surrounds the pole with one or several independent lighting fixtures that are mounted around it. Most units have about four, six to eight lights in the ring and with ten, twelve and sixteen lights that are used in rarer cases. Most of the high-mast lights are high-pressure sodium while other types like mercury vapor, metal halide and LED are also used. Some units have the lighting that is surrounded by a circular shield to avoid or lessen thelight population or light trespass from the affectedneighborhoods adjacent to the highway.
Maintaining these kind of systems are usually done by lowering the luminaire ring from the mast head to the base which uses a winch.A motor to the ground or at a height accessible by a cherry picker that is located in the areas that allow easier access without disrupting traffic
A light fixture, light fitting, or luminaire is an electrical device that contains an electric lamp providing illumination. All light fixtures are made of a fixture body and one or more lamps. These lamps are in sockets used for easy replacement. Some of the LED fixtures are hard-wired in place.
Fixtures have a switch that is used to control the light, either it is attached to the lamp body or attached to the power cable. Dining room chandeliers may have no switch on the fixture itself, they rely on a wall switch; they are called Permanent light fixtures.
Fixtures need an electrical connection with a power source, typically is has AC mains power, but some of them run on battery power for camping and emergency lights. Permanent lighting fixtures are wired directly. Movable lamps have a plug that plugs into a wall socket and also cord plugs.
Light fixtures consists offeatures such as reflectors for directing the light, an aperturewith or without a lens, also an outer shell, a housing for lamp alignment and protection, an electrical ballast or power supply.A shade to diffuse the light or direct it towards a workspace e.g., a desk lamp is also an example. A wide range of special light fixtures are manufactured for the application in the automotive lighting industry, aerospace, marine and medicine sectors.
Portable light fixtures are often called as lamps, for example in table lamp or desk lamp. In technical terminology, the lamp is known as the light source, which is usually called as the light bulb in casual terminology. The International Electro technical Commission (IEC) recommends the term luminaire for technical application.
